There is MUCH to be gained from connecting with your higher self as explained in the previous post – what is your higher self? But how do you actually make that connection? The goal of this post is to summarise – not to cover each and every way in detail. Hopefully, this gives you a place to start!
Firstly, accept it’s part of you. Know it’s there. Have faith.
Secondly, just say ‘hi’! If you’ve spent that long ignoring someone you should at least say hi!
What’s the best time to connect with your higher self?
Any time! Your higher self knows all of your thoughts and all of your feelings – it is part of you. It helps if you raise your vibration through self-care, meditation and really focussing on feeling love and gratitude from your heart.
Just sit quietly and focus on feeling like a ball of light – that is what you are, after all, you are more than your body. Then see what your mind tells you or ask yourself a question. This becomes WAY easier with practice. Then you’ll also start seeing everything as light energy which is a topic for another time but also very cool.
In time you’ll want to live in connection with your higher self as your natural state. You’ll start to notice when you aren’t connected, when you’re living as your lower self – you’ll be negative, judgement, unmotivated, disconnected to the world and some people end up being a bit of an arse to those around them. They might even hate spending time with themselves!
Activities to help connect to higher self
Different things will work for different people. There’s a lifetime of reading online about this but just try things and see what works for you. For me it’s purely staying in a state of non-judgement, love and having an open heart. When I’m walking or swimming I hear my higher self a little louder and for some reason my high self loves interrupting when I’m reading or laying down in the sauna (probably because I’m in a calm and happy place). These seem to be the most commonly suggested activities:
- Spend time in nature appreciating it’s awesomeness
- Meditation and focused questions to your higher self
- Exercise
- Feel good through dancing, playing music or reminding yourself of your strengths
- Think about and find your life purpose
- Forgive yourself for having negative emotions
- Eat natural and good foods
- When you wake and before getting out of bed – remind yourself your higher self is there – say good morning!
The more you connect to your higher self, the better you’ll get at differentiating between your own mind voice and that of your higher self.
Try writing down messages you get and see if you notice a different style between them and the way you’d usually speak. Keep a journal so you can look back and notice the impact listening to that voice can have. There will be so many micro-messages and signs I guarantee you won’t recall them all in two months’ time! I thought it was so amazing I was bound to remember everything – WRONG!
